Joanna Sachryn
Concert Violinist, Professor of Violin at Music Academy, Berlin
She captivates us with her "tremendous temperament, huge musicality and breathtaking instrumental technique" (Kölner Stadtanzeiger). She offers us "exciting expressiveness in richcolours" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung). The Nordbayerischer Kurier finds her "the absoluteapogee of mellifluous and feminine feeling for sound", even a "singing swan of the cello". Especially prized by the music press and audiences the world over is Joanna's bewitching power ofexpression, which she exemplifies in all musical styles.

Joanna Sachryn was born into a family of musicians, giving her debut of the Lalo concerto after only four years of study, to the great interest of the Polish public. At the age of sixteen she toured with Jeunesses Musicales to Paris and to London, where „The Observer“ already extolled her great expressiveness. At seventeen, alongside musical studies, schooling, and numerous solo concerts, Joanna took on the solo cello position at Stettin Opera ( as the youngest principal cellist of Poland), at the same time winning prizes in numerous national competitions.

She continued her studies with Gerhard Mantel in Frankfurt and in London with William Pleeth, Following repertoire study with the 2 Russian Gigant of the Cello - Mstislav Rostropovich andDaniil Sharan, as her collaboration with the leading musical personalities of our time, such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Rudolf Barschai made a strong influence on her music understanding. She performed on international stages like Alte Oper Frankfurt, London Royal Festival Hall,
Santory Hall Tokio, National Art Center, Kuno Hall and Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul, Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts, Shanghai Symphony Hall,Cecilia Meirelles Hall Rio de Janeiro, Centro Cultural Miguel Ángel Asturias Guatemala City ; at Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Rheingau Musikfestival, Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Shanghai Spring Festival, International Cello Festival Katowice n Poland, Liana Isakadze Festival in Georgia.

Joanna Sachryn is the cellist of the internationally renowned Cologne Piano Trio.
In 2020 the label Kaleidos released the new CD (World- First recording)of Joanna and her piano partner Paul Rivinius „ Hiller& Urspruch - Fagotten Treasures“ , which received a lot of enthusiastic press and publicity kit. A new CD of this duo with sonatas of D.Shostakovich and K.Meyer will be released in September 2022.

Joanna Sachryn big passion is teaching- since decades she gives cello and chamber music masterclasses in Europe, South America and Asia. Since 2013 she is guest professor at the renowned Tongji University in Shanghai - and since 2020 she teaches at Music Academy Berlin.
